Chinese Medicine is a whole system of medicine practiced throughout Asia for over 2000 years. For one-third of the world it is their primary health care system. And increasingly throughout the western world it is used as alternative and complementary care. This system and knowledge includes a number of approaches to treat the person coming with symptoms of illness, disease or discomfort. Acupuncture and Herbs are the most widely known, but there is also massage, nutrition and medical qigong.
The focus of this science is on “qi,” commonly defined as vital energy or life force, that is a part of nature and a part of us. By examining how the qi gets stuck, the practitioner can discern why the particular illness developed and how to support a person’s healing. When there is smooth flow of qi throughout the body/mind/spirit we are able to be happier and healthier and live life in greater balance.
